Honey, a good habit

Honey, a sweetener known since centuries, is currently rediscovered all over the world as a source of natural energy and a component of a healthy diet.

Sugars are sources of physical energy. All carbohydrates, from ordinary sugar to complex carbohydrates (such as in cereals or bread) have to be broken down into glucose (grape sugar) and fructose (fruit sugar) before they can supply our body with energy.  This process alone requires time and energy.  Honey consists for at least 2/3 of fructose and glucose.  These substances are immediately absorbed by our body without any form of decomposition.  Honey therefore is a direct source of energy without any intermediate processing.  This unique combination of natural sugars appears to be very effective for relieving fatigue and improving performance.

Honey should be included in your daily diet next to the basic elements.  On bread, in cereals, dairy products or cottage cheese, as a part of your meals.  In hot drinks or in one of the many household remedies known and used all over the world.

Honey turns ordinary into extraordinary

Cooking, baking and roasting with honey is incorporating the power of fragrant, blooming flowers and herbs into your dishes.

Mediterranean cuisine, the mother of all great cuisines, has included the use of honey in its dishes for centuries.  Like wine and olive oil, honey is rich and complex, even a little mysterious, so that it turns an ordinary dish into an extraordinary treat.  Its specific characteristics make honey so versatile that you should have it in your kitchen as a daily ingredient next to pepper and salt.

However, honey cake, not only tasty if simply eaten in slices, also has culinary value. This intense mix of rye flour, honey and herbs can be processed in snacks, desserts and other preparations in an endless number of ways.

Tasty, versatile and surprising!
